FAQs

What Areas Do You Service?

We are based in Oakville, Ontario. We will service a 50 km radius outside of Oakville. Any events located outside of the 50 kms will be charged $1/km for travel to and from your event.

Do You Sell Alcohol?

Liquor laws in Ontario don’t allow the sale of alcohol from a mobile vehicle. The person hosting the event is responsible for purchasing the alcohol and if required, acquiring a Special Occasion Permit (SOP) from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) in order for us to legally dispense any alcoholic beverages.

What's a Special Occasions Permit?

A Special Occasions Permit (SOP) allows for the sale (Sale) and service (No Sale) of alcohol on special occasions, such as cash bars at weddings or private receptions, as well as larger public events. An SOP is required any time alcohol is served anywhere other than in a licensed establishment or a private residence. For more information about SOP’s, please refer to www.agco.ca for up-to-date information and the by-laws for your local Municipal Alcohol Policy (MAP).

Will We Receive Assistance in Creating a Customized Package?

Yes, all bookings include a consultation with our team where we help select the required beverages to fit your occasion.

Can We Decorate The Trotter With The Theme of The Event?

Yes, you can but please consult us first to make those arrangements.

Do You Have Any Requirements?

A standard 110 v plug with a dedicated 15 amp circuit is required to operate the draft system, water pump, lights and refrigeration. For events without available electricity, we have a generator that can be used as a power supply. This would be considered an add-on. We also require a firm, dry, flat, and level ground area in order to park the Trotter and serve your guests safely.

Can Guests Serve Themselves?

In accordance with AGCO regulations, a Smart Serve certified server must dispense all drinks. That being said, if the Trotter is dropped off for bar rental only, and you are buying the alcohol, guests can serve themselves.

How Does Payment and Deposit Work?

To reserve the Tipsy Trotter we ask for a 25% deposit along with a signed contract. The remaining balance is due no later than 7 days prior to your event date. We accept cash, e-transfer, PayPal, Credit and Debit Card payments. If you’re renting the Tipsy Trotter for personal use, we require a damage deposit.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

For cancellations less than 30 days prior to your event, your deposit is non-refundable.

What Are Your COVID-19 Protocols?

We follow all provincial mandates and sanitize all equipment as necessary.

What Drinks Can You Serve?

We cater to you! We’ll serve a variety of options like beer (keg, bottle or cans), wine, seltzers, ciders, ready to drink products (RTD’s), sparkling wines and Prosecco. We also serve spirit-based drinks and cocktails. Each of our packages includes non-alcoholic options. We can even work with you to craft a signature cocktail for your event! Please refer to our ‘Packages’ page for more details.

How Many Bottles of Beer are Dispensed From a Keg?

There are many different sizes of kegs. Basically, a Half Barrel Keg size serves 124 pints (16 oz each) or 165 cans/bottles (12 oz each). We can go over the size options and requirements during the consultation.
